The bridge was inaugurated on June 2, 2025, and the event was honored by the presence of Minister mag. Alenka Bratušek.

At the beginning of June, work also began on the arrangement of the embankments, the reconstruction of local roads, and the regional connection, marking the continuation of the comprehensive traffic rehabilitation of the area.

The APC serves as the northern relief channel of the Rižana River, collecting torrential waters from the slopes of the Milje Hill and drainage waters from agricultural land between the canal and the Koper–Ankaran road.

Due to the planned spatial developments by the Port of Koper in the Bonifika area (construction of cells for marine sediment disposal and the long-term expansion of port activities), the construction of the APC was essential to ensure:
💧 greater discharge capacity of the canal
🏘️ safety of existing infrastructure and buildings
🌱 improvement of ecological conditions in the wider area

Through a responsible and thoughtful approach to water management challenges, we are building the foundations for the sustainable development and resilience of the coastal area.

Construction investments are in decline, and Slovenia is lagging behind in the absorption of EU funds. As a result, Slovenia recorded the largest GDP drop among EU countries in the first quarter of 2025 – a decrease of 0.8%.

The conference’s concluding message was clear: it is essential to restart investments, reform the public procurement system in consulting engineering, and recognize the value of quality over the lowest price.

➡️ a railway overpass (structure 4.1) with a length of 39.30 m over the main railway line Divača–Koper, the most important structure on the bypass
➡️ an underpass for a forest road (structure 3.1)
➡️ an underpass for a local road (structure 3.2).

🔹 The overpass is an integral post-tensioned structure, founded on piles with a massive arched design and a single span of 34 m between abutments.
🔹 The technology and construction process had to be carefully adapted to the intensive railway traffic on this section of the Divača–Koper main line.

Particularly demanding were the works that required railway line closures, as determined by the railway operator.

The project began in December 2022, and completion is expected in mid-2025.

In the settlement of Zgornje Stranje, across the Kamniška Bistrica River, on the connection between Kamnik and the Savinja Valley, we have reached one of the key milestones of the project – the successful concreting of the bridge deck!
▫️ 685 m³ of concrete,
▫️ professional supervision led by Sloman,
▫️ a step closer to a safer and more modern transport connection.

Last year’s floods swept away the already severely damaged bridge, but together with the designer GRADIS, BP MARIBOR d.o.o., and the contractor Gorenjska Gradbena Družba, we are building it anew. The client of the project is the Directorate of the Republic of Slovenia for Infrastructure, ensuring that all contractors can properly perform their tasks.

By summer 2025, the bridge will once again serve its purpose.

As part of the reconstruction, the following works were carried out:
✔️ Surface drainage system installation
✔️ New electrical cable ducting
✔️ Installation of four 35-meter-high lighting towers

The construction works were performed by KOLEKTOR KOLING d.o.o. and Adriaing d.o.o. Koper, while the design work was completed by Elea iC d.o.o.
Our SLOMAN d.o.o. team, in cooperation with Obok Iti d.o.o. and Elin d.o.o., was responsible for supervision of the entire construction process.

This project represents an important step in enhancing the storage capacity of the Port of Koper.

As part of the project, we are installing the advanced Eleminator waterproofing system, which ensures high-quality application even in challenging weather conditions. This modern solution will significantly enhance the durability and long-term protection of the bridge structure. 

The renovation also includes the reconstruction of the roadway and the addition of a dedicated cycling lane, improving traffic safety and comfort for all road users—drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. The new infrastructure is expected to be completed by spring, contributing to better traffic flow and a more pedestrian-friendly urban environment. 

The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Postojna and the Slovenian Infrastructure Agency, with construction work expertly executed by Adriaplan and Hipox. 

Through effective cooperation among all stakeholders, we are building a better and more sustainable infrastructure that will serve the residents and visitors of Postojna for years to come.  

Project Highlights: 

• 5,400 meters of a two-way cycling path for safer and more efficient travel. 

• Complete renovation of the national road R2-407 (Ljubljanica–Vrhnika) to improve accessibility and road quality. 

• Four wooden bridges built across the Vrhnika field, enhancing both landscape aesthetics and structural resilience. 

Additionally, our colleague, Luka Matjaž, successfully carried out his role as supervisor and FIDIC engineer (International Federation of Consulting Engineers), ensuring high-quality execution and compliance with international engineering standards. 

This project marks a major step toward a more sustainable future, providing safer cycling infrastructure and promoting eco-friendly transport options for the local community

Key Achievements of the Project: 

• Expansion of the Sewerage Network: A total of 4,039 meters of sewerage pipelines were installed, divided into 14 sections. 

• Environmental Benefits: The new system enables additional connections to the public sewer network, reducing the number of septic tanks. This is a crucial step in protecting the fragile coastal ecosystem. 

• Comprehensive Infrastructure Upgrades: In addition to the sewer system construction, local roads were renovated, and utility and telecommunications networks (electricity, water supply) were modernized. 

This project represents a significant investment in the municipality’s infrastructure, ensuring long-term environmental protection and improved public health. 

The outcomes of these efforts have resulted in daily traffic jams on highways, with negative environmental impacts, a lower level of transport services, and only minimal growth in public transport usage. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), Slovenia has dropped from 37th to 52nd place in terms of transport infrastructure development over the past fifteen years.

The PNZ transport model, developed for Slovenia, predicts that roads will continue to be the primary mode of transport. Despite necessary efforts towards sustainable mobility, which must be pursued more effectively, it is projected that at least 75% (currently 90%) of passenger kilometers will still be traveled by road.

It is therefore high time to give road infrastructure the role it deserves based on all indicators. This specifically means the urgent acceleration of construction of new and expansion of existing highway sections between Vrhnika and Domžale, as well as the construction of bypasses and modernization of existing state roads.
